Two Thousand Two Hundred Drawings To Take Away (with Stefano Arienti, 2008)

A large wall in the museum was filled with drawings, made in various techniques, half by each of the two artists. A few were pre-existing drawings from previous free distributions. 1000 drawings weer made for this occasion, 500 using Sangiovese di Romagna wine, and 500 using tap water. These had been produced during a workshop with a group of 12 young artists and students from the local Fine Arts Academy. Each of these 1000 drawings has therefore a double signature, that of Pietroiusti and that of the young artist who had made it in the workshop. Each person of the audience, for the whole duration of the show, and for as long as there were available drawings, was free to take away one of their choice.

This installation and performance was conceived by Arienti and Pietroiusti for the two-person show “Regali e regole. Prendere, dare, sbirciare nel museo” ["Gifts and rules. Taking, giving and taking a peek into the museum”], MAMbo (Museum of Modern Art, Bologna), April-June 2008. Approximately half-way during the run of the exhibition, the artists refilled the empty wall. Out of all, almost 3.000 drawings were distributed.
